A bold reimagining of a one-bedroom apartment, Home Forbes began as a full gut renovation and evolved into a sophisticated yet playful bachelor pad in the heart of Darlinghurst. The brief? Colour, curves, and contrast, sleek but full of personality.

Our client, Justin, wanted a home that reflected his vibrant energy and love for innovation (and a good gadget). The spark for the design came in the most unexpected form, a marshmallow-pink resin cheese knife from Sardee that he produced during our first meeting, declaring, “Here’s your inspiration, now go for it.” From there, the vision took shape around soft pinks, rich burgundy tones, and integrated storage that feels both streamlined and striking.

The design balances sophisticated fun with a calming ease. A restrained pink palette is elevated through thoughtful details: integrated handles, burgundy accents, and luxurious Kalamata joinery internals that add depth and contrast. Every element, from the flowing curves to the Invisacook cooktop, was chosen to create a seamless yet spirited space that reflects Justin’s character.

Bringing the concept to life wasn’t without challenges. The existing apartment had uneven floors, low ceilings, and bulkheads scattered throughout. Through careful collaboration with the builder, we levelled the floors, raised the ceilings, and redefined the proportions of the space, transforming it into something open, balanced, and welcoming.

Standout moments include the bathroom, where soft pink Farmers doors meet aubergine accents and visible grain detailing, a combination that feels quietly magical.

Above all, Home Forbes is about trust and creative freedom. Justin embraced every bold idea with enthusiasm, allowing the design to truly flourish. The result? A small apartment that leaves a big impression. One that makes you walk in and think . . .“Wow.”
